Joe Nolan can write with an eye for detail, a flair for poetry of characterization, and an ability to marry both those talents to folk/acoustic/rock flavored melodies of several sorts. Outstanding cuts on his project Plain Jane (which the Nashville based musician co-produced with Pat Flynn) include the vivid portrait of both woman and city in San Francisco Girl and the atmospheric Rush Hour Blues, with lyrics and melody that perfectly frame Nolan's ideas. Flynn, Dave Pomeroy, Cactus Moser, and Pat Bergeson are among top Nashville side players backing Nolan. available from http://www.joenolan.com
