Happy Birthday, Neil Young!
To celebrate, here is a great movie of Neil Young performing his latest music. Produced by Daniel Lanois, Le Noise is a contradiction: a loud and noisy singer/songwriter solo record. However, this odd combination is not born out of ambivalence. Le Noise is as purposeful as it is open and mystical; it’s a documenting of moments subjected to the immediate reflections of themselves.
That last bit makes almost no sense – even to me. What I am trying to say is that Le Noise reaches way out there. What I’m also trying to say is that it pulls back a fistful of stars. Aching, laughing, mournful, burning stars.
This film – which is set to be released on Blu-ray this month – was created by cinematographer Adam CK Vollnick. From his website:
“My most recent work. A collaboration with Neil Young and Daniel Lanois. I was very privileged to be involved in an uninhibited way to capture these raw performances on film. I also provided the imagery to Gary Burden, for the entire packaging design.”

As a special bonus we’ve also added a 30-minute interview with Young and Lanois on Q TV.
Enjoy!
